Anyone who learns to play piano has an advantage when it comes to learning to play drums.  Like piano, drum notation is written on multiple levels on the percussion stave – a pianist is already used to reading multiple levels of notation.

Drum students will be taught not only to play and improvise rhythms, but also to become fluent in reading the notation.  This makes for a rockin’ drummer with all-round ability.  For those who learn both drums and piano, the natural progression is towards tuned percussion instruments, such as orchestral xylophone, marimba, etc.

Drums can either be learned on their own, or as part of multi-skills lessons, in conjunction with piano and/or singing.
